This wooden seat is attributed to the Cook Islands. However, the Museum has no information on its origin or how it was acquired. A seat was one of the few pieces of furniture to be found in the traditional homes of the Cook Islands. Stools made for chiefs were called no'oanga and ensured their heads were higher than their subjects who sat on the ground.
