Wooden pestle from the Ontong Java atoll in the Malaita Province of the Solomon Islands. Pestles were used to grind seeds and grains for consumption as food. This pestle was collected by the anthropologist Dr Ian Hogbin. The University of Sydney donated it to the Museum in 1988.
